GREATER BADDOW – Earlier today, Essexian leadership Emperor Terry, Lord Matthew, Lord Jack, and Crown Minister Summers traveled to the city of London in order to deliver letters to various macronational embassies requesting diplomatic relations.
The embassies visited were chosen to be countries in which authoritarian leaders are at the helm; Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea. The move had been criticised by various left-wing leaders within the country, with Earl Finn stating that “Essexia should not seek relations with countries with horrific human rights records.”

Following some domestic outrage, the Foreign Ministry clarified in a statement;
Our letters were not begging for relations. Essexia had its own terms, that were – if you want relations with us, you have to implement democratic reforms in your countries, with the exact wording used in the letters being “Please adopt democracy then we may consider entering into diplomatic relations with you.” These are terms we hope our future democratic allies will agree to, seeing as they are not unreasonable requests.
The foreign ministry.
The entorage firstly visted the Chinese embassy, during which a representative was unavaible to receive the notice in person, so Lord Matthew slipped the envelope under the door. Following this, the group travalled through St James’ Park to the Russian Embassy, after which the visit was finished off by similar excursions to the Iranian and North Korean embassies.
The day has been hailed as a diplomatic triumph by the government of Essexia, who are now bracing for swift replies from all the consulates involved, thrusting Essexia into the realm of macropolitics, while also ensuring democracy for billions of people around the world.
